Key takeaways
- Where possible, your data stays in your own cloud account.
- If an AI provider is involved, you should be told which one and what it keeps.
- Ask five questions before sharing data with any provider.
The first question most business owners ask us is: "Where does my data go?" It's the right question.
Your accounts, not ours
Wherever possible, we build what you need inside your own cloud account (the online space you rent from companies like Amazon, Google or Microsoft). That way, your customer records and documents stay with you. We don't keep copies on our own systems.
When an AI provider is involved
Some tasks use an AI service from another company. When that happens, your information is sent to that service to be processed. Reputable providers offer business agreements where your data isn't used to train their AI and isn't kept after the task. We tell you which provider we use, what it sees, and what it keeps, before you sign anything.
When data must never leave
Some businesses, such as clinics or law firms, have rules that keep certain data inside their own systems. In those cases, there are options that run on your own servers. They can cost more and do less than the big online services, so we'll explain the trade-off.
Who can get in
We only work with access you give us. It can be limited to what's needed, and you can remove it any time. When we finish, you hold the keys.
Five questions to ask any AI provider
- Where is my data stored, and for how long?
- Is my data used to train your AI?
- Who at your company can see it?
- What happens to my data if I stop?
- Can you put what you've promised in writing?
If a provider can't answer these clearly, that tells you something.
